Materials & Responsibility
Sustainability is not just a talking point at Misfit Panda. It sits at the core of the brand’s ethos and design approach.
As a PETA-Approved Vegan brand, we realised early on that simply replacing leather with PU, PVC, and other synthetic alternatives was not enough, as these materials often carry their own environmental impact. Five years ago, we made the decision to move away from PU entirely in favour of lower-impact alternatives.
Today, our products are crafted using plant-based leather alternatives derived from agricultural crop waste, along with upcycled and recycled materials, and natural fabrics wherever possible. Our footwear soles are made using recycled rubber sourced from discarded tyres. This helps reduce landfill waste while maintaining durability for everyday use.
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and continue to explore lower-impact materials and responsible production practices as we evolve.
How We Reduce Waste
Our responsibility does not end at design.
We follow a low-inventory production model by manufacturing small batches for each design and colourway. Additional units are produced only when demand indicates the need, helping reduce overproduction and minimise waste.
We also work towards extending product life cycles by ensuring that leftover or unsold products are donated to organisations such as Green Sole, where they can be refurbished and redistributed to communities in need.
To further reduce our environmental impact, we use packaging materials that are either compostable or made from recycled inputs wherever possible.
